Sagafilm is without a debate the leading independent production company in Iceland.
Throughout the last 3 decades the company has produced content to television of high quality covering all genres.

Sagafilms TV producers and directors have extended experience both from within Iceland and from years of working abroad. They have undertaken the most complex shows and been the pioneers in various fields when it comes to domestic TV-production.

Sagafilm is the only production company in Iceland which has an experience in producing formats for the Icelandic audience. Amongst the formats produced for the native broadcasters are: Idol, Love Boat, Icelandic Bachelor, Lyrics Board, How Clean Is Your House and Who Wants To Be A Millionare?

The core business of Sagafilm is production and the aim is to be able to serve all native clients, broadcasters, telecos and publishers alike with one goal in mind; that the essence of quality will secure revenue and goodwill for every one of Saga film?s clients.

Siggi, or Siggi Hlemm as he is known by most people due to the name of his family’s video rental inherits his father’s business after his mysterious death. While Siggi does not share his late father’s interest in the business he soon starts to enjoy the job, especially as he now has the time and resources to spend on being a private investigator, a sideline he has been wanting to get into for years.

Fangavaktin In THE PRISON SHIFT we follow the trio to jail where Georg and Daniel serve time for their involvement in the death of hotel manager Gugga, their ex-boss. It doesn’t take long for Olafur to join them, for un-related charges, although as per usual, Georg plays his part in his woes. Hilarity ensues as the three deal with life behind bars and new characters get introduced.

ÁSTRÍÐUR tells the story of a young woman at a crossroads in her life. After finishing business university in Denmark she leaves her boyfriend, family and friends behind to move to Iceland, where she is originally from, to carve out a new life and career. Before long she finds herself in the midst of hilarious office drama and romance. ÁSTRÍÐUR was extremely well received when it aired in Iceland in 2009 and reviewed as being both relatable and funny. A second series is currently in development.

Kallakaffi is in a way a mixture of sitcom and drama, telling the story of a couple newly divorced but still running their business, a café, on almost 24/7 basis. Main characters are 6 in all and each show features a star and a new sideline.

THE NIGHT SHIFT deals with a trio of hapless employees at a quiet gas station in Reykjavik City. They pass the time during the cold, Icelandic winter nights, avoid work and terrorize the few customers that pass by with their eccentric behaviour.

NON SCRIPTED

Fagur fiskir i sjo is an Icelandic program on fish and how to cook various types of fish. In each of the twelve episode there is one fish type introduced, such as lobster, shellfish, chili, fish soups, cod, sushi, salmon, arctic char and so on. We go out and catch soem of the ingredience, or gather it and then it is prepared and cooked. Sveinn Kjartansson is our chef and assisted by Aslaug Snorradottir, photographer and food stylist they invite people to a feast, or visit people to offer them a taste. The programs are shot in Icelandic nature, at sea and in homes of our guests.
