The documentary department at Sagafilm is headed by Margrét Jónasdóttir, one of Iceland’s most celebrated and awarded documentary film makers. Sagafilm has been the main producer of documentaries for the Icelandic market for the past 30 years and owns an exceptional and completely unique footage archive covering Icelandic history and landscape.

Harpa -The New Concert and Conference Hall in Reykjavik![]() In July 2007, Sagafilm started documenting the construction of the Icelandic National Concert and Conference Centre on behalf of Portus Group. The aim is to document thoroughly the rise of the building and the dramatic changes in the east harbor of Reykjavik City centre and the highlight the effects the Concert Hall will have in the cultural life of Icelanders. |
THE ICELANDIC RESCUE TEAMS![]() Sagafilm has since August 2007 been working on a documentary series on the Icelandic Search and Rescue teams. The people who always respond in case of emergency and people who are trained to expect the unexpected. Those who are willing to risk their own live in order to save others. Those who have prioritized their lives in such a way that the volunteer work of the ICESAR always comes first. |

ICE-SAR IN HAITI![]() In September 2009 the Icelandic Search and Rescue team receive an emergency call from the Republic of Thule. An earthquake has destroyed the capital of Cave Town. The population is 1.5 million. Thule does not have armed forces. Due to inland unrest the UN has a permanent presence in the country. |
