Melissa Silverman
Melissa Silverman is a New York City native who spent her high school years in Los Angeles. After graduating from Northwestern University with a degree in Film, she worked in the Art Department for several films and production designed numerous award-winning shorts. Her background in photography can be seen in her work, which exhibits a strong visual sensibility and an often highly designed composition.
Melissa got her start directing in the pop culture emporium that is the MTV On-Air Promos Department. While there she was responsible for conceptualizing and directing many memorable campaigns, characterized by her appreciation for the most subtle to the most absurd character and performance nuances. Her award winning work includes campaigns for MTV's Video Music Awards and MTV's 20th Anniversary as well as spots featuring Madonna, Conan O'Brien, Donald Trump, and the Foo Fighters. Additionally, Melissa created the first internationally co-directed Image Campaign, MTV Coordinates. That campaign, as well as its follow-up was recognized by the British Design and Art Direction Annual, the Art Directors Club, RESfest and other industry publications. Outside of her work with MTV, Melissa has recently helmed campaigns for Iceland Telecom, Genworth Financial, G4 Network, Motorola International, Revlon and Orio.
